Geosciences at the Erlangen schools

Last week, members of the Department of Mineralogy visited secondary schools in Erlangen and the surrounding area. In a double lesson, they introduced pupils (5th-grade Gymnasium) to the rock cycle, as well as to the diverse minerals and rocks that make up our planet. Through a mix of group activities and lectures, the pupils explored these topics in depth. Of course, there were plenty of hands-on exhibits, small experiments, and opportunities to look through a microscope. The many curious questions, creative ideas, and interesting contributions from the pupils made for a dynamic and enriching morning for everyone.
