Science journal – Prof. Wolfgang Kießling
Prof. Wolfgang Kießling, Chair of Palaeobiology, and scientists from Australia have succeeded in providing a robust basis for the identification of “New Ecosystems” bereitzustellen, with fossils playing a special role: “Increased extinction in the emergence of novel ecological communities”. At the same time, they noted that the risk of species extinction increases considerably when converting to a new ecosystem state, which is also highlighted in an accompanying „Perspective“. They have now published the results in the journal Science.
